Mapping Black Identity & Resistance

Today’s Research Cafe at Morehouse College was invigorating and rewarding for several reasons. Most notably, the exchange between faculty members–some conveying healthy skepticism on the impact of genetic mapping, while others inquisitive about the role of digital mapping technologies in the student learning process inquired about the salience of these strategies in their own classes. 
A couple of recent texts, diverse in their aims, employ geographic schemes to explore the relationship between identity, ethics and social justice concerns:
